Sears to close three more stores in Maryland
Sears is closing its White Marsh, Annapolis and Waldorf stores as the retail chain continues to pare down its locations across the U.S., company officials said Thursday.
Liquidation sales will begin this week with the stores set to close by mid-April, said Larry Costello, a spokesman for Sears’ parent company, TransformCo. of Chicago, on Thursday.
“After careful review, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Sears stores in Annapolis, Baltimore and Waldorf, Md.,” Costello said, in a statement. “We encourage customers to continue shopping on Sears.com for all their product needs.”
The closings will leave large gaps in the suburban malls.
The stand-alone White Marsh store totals 168,716 square feet, including the auto center, and is located on 13 acres of the mall footprint, while the Annapolis Sears located in the Westfield Annapolis Mall totals 125,000 square feet. Waldorf’s Sears is located in the St. Charles Towne Centre.
