Environmental group focuses on sewage plant pollution

Grow Your Business in Maryland with digital marketing services from The W Agency BALTIMORE (AP) — An environmental group is releasing a report on pollution at sewage and wastewater treatment plants in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The Environmental Integrity Project report released recently criticizes delays in upgrading treatment plants, such as the Patapsco River Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Baltimore area. The report cites federal and state records showing the Patapsco plant discharged 2.3 million pounds (1.04 million kilograms) of nitrogen pollution in in January through August of 2017, more than twice the amount allowed for the year. The report says it’s one of 21 wastewater plants in the watershed that violated permit limits last year. Eric Schaeffer, the group’s director, says upgrades at a few sewage treatment plants like the Patapsco plant are behind schedule and should have increased oversight from state regulators. Mysterious slaying of detective the talk of Baltimore

Grow Your Business in Maryland with digital marketing services from The W Agency BALTIMORE (AP) — The murder of a Baltimore homicide detective shot in the head with his own gun two weeks ago has transformed into a feeding frenzy of speculation in a city filled with armchair sleuths and deeply suspicious views of law enforcers. The unsolved Nov. 15 killing of Detective Sean Suiter is the talk of Baltimore, where residents are dissecting details of the case in offices, on street corners and on social media. It’s a homicide investigation, but the version of events offered up by police brass is being increasingly questioned since it came to light that the detective was shot a day before he was set to testify before a federal grand jury probing an elite unit of indicted officers. Police Commissioner Kevin Davis has emphasized that Suiter, whose Baltimore-area funeral procession was set to close down major roads Wednesday, was not the target of any federal probe and by all accounts was a
