Green announced as Prince George’s Co. fire chief

Prince George’s County, Maryland, has a new fire chief.

Chief Deputy Tiffany Green was announced as the next leader of the Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Service on Monday morning. She’ll be the first black woman to lead the department.

Green has been chief deputy since November of last year. She’s been with the department since 1999. Before that, she was a volunteer with the Oxon Hill Fire Department.

She will succeed Chief Benjamin Barksdale, who is retiring, Oct. 1.
