The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission issued a boil water advisory for parts of southern Prince George’s County Sunday night following a water main break along Indian Head Highway.

The boil water advisory — which the WSSC said is precautionary — was issued for the area west of Indian Head Highway (MD 210) to the Potomac River, and from the D.C. line south to Piscataway Creek. Small areas east of MD 210 are also under advisory.

A full map of the affected area can be found here.

Those who live in the affected area are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for three minutes and then allowing it to cool before:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing fruits and vegetables
  • Preparing baby food and formula
  • Making ice
  • Giving water to pets
