Man rescued after falling into flood-threatened Potomac at Olmstead Island

WASHINGTON — A man was rescued after falling into the Potomac River near Great Falls while trying to take a selfie Sunday evening, officials said. The man was transported to the hospital. Officials said he is expected to be OK. Montgomery County Fire and EMS were called to a water rescue at Olmstead Island near Great Falls where a man, who was too close to the edge, had fallen in around 5:30 p.m.
