Baltimore’s anthropomorphic water wheel wakes secret society
BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore’s anthropomorphic trash-collecting water wheel, Mr. Trash Wheel , has announced he and his trash wheel family have revived an ancient secret society.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Mr. Trash Wheel’s Facebook page, sponsored by the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, is soliciting members for the Order of The Wheel. The application describes a 16th-century prophecy by “Nostragarbage,” about a machine that will free the world from rubbish and save the oceans.
The partnership says Mr. Trash Wheel has collected more than 1 million pounds of trash since he was installed at the mouth of the Jones Falls in May 2014. His sibling, Professor Trash Wheel, was installed in Canton in 2016.
