1 dead, several injured in 5-vehicle Connecticut Ave crash

WASHINGTON — A fatal crash in Rockville, Maryland closed a stretch of Connecticut Avenue during the Wednesday morning rush hour.

One person was killed in the crash and five others were injured, Capt. Paul Starks with Montgomery County police said. The crash involved five vehicles, he said.

The crash closed all lanes on Connecticut Avenue between Independence Street and Dean Road for the police investigation. Montgomery County police first tweeted about the closure about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. In a follow-up tweet sent shortly before 9:30 a.m., police said the lanes remained closed.
